I treasure my hutch full of Desert Rose dishes! My collection is a combination of my grandmother's, my mother's (she bought them a piece at a time before she got married in 1953) and a partial set my husband bought from a co-worker who had no idea what she had...just that she didn't want it. We still just use it for special occasions...that dishwasher issue!

My Grandmother lived in DeQueen, Arkansas. Our family lived in South Louisiana. The one thing that I looked forward to each summer and Christmas was visiting her and eating off of her Desert Rose dishes. I thought that they were the most beautiful things I had ever seen in my life!! I now have a set of my own. I used to keep them put away and brought them out for only holidays and special occassions - now I use them every day - and MY grandchildren love them, too! I let them drink their milk and juice from the "fancy" coffee cups - they feel so special! And isn't that what eating at Ma'Ma's house is all about!!

When I was in college and worked in the china/gift department at the local department store, Franciscan Rose was one of the most favorite of brides registering for their wedding.

I am so glad you found a set of dishes on eBay. You should use the dishes every time you get a chance because each time it will bring back happy memories of your loved one.

Creating the mosaic of the dishes that are chipped is inspirational. How special!
