I trust everyone had a good 4th of July. It is a good time for picnics, parades, and families to get together. Mr. Bruce and I rarely do anything special on a holiday, that's OK. The 4th of July is my favorite holiday..get excited even thinking about it. I love all the red, white, and blue celebrations. I am proud be an American.
I have a "must do" list over the long weekend. We did them all but one, didn't get my chocolate malt yet. We watched the musical movie "1776" Saturday morning. I have watched it so much I can sing all the songs, it is a wonderful movie.
Of course, we watched our sports, "GO CARDINALS" including some of the Wimbledon games. Mr. Bruce watched "the trial", I thought it too depressing and sad. We ate watermelon. We listened to the fireworks the neighbors were shooting every night. Checking my list, I was getting my fun items checked off in a timely matter.
Monday we went to see the movie "Larry Crowne", a nice feel good movie starring Tom Hanks and Julia Roberts. We rarely go to movies in the theater. Frankly, there are few that are not filled with awful language, too, too much killing and blood, and are sicking. I don't watch those kind, period. The theater was almost full; very few people were under 50, most were over 65. Thank-you Tom Hanks for making a movie your own Mother would be comfortable watching.
Afterwards we had a quick supper at Mexican Villa, then home to watch the Cardinals. The evening ended perfectly with the PBS special "The Capitol Fourth". What a show! Did y'all see Steve Martin play the banjo? Fantastic!!
